CINEMA VERITE

BY HOWIE GOOD

Even after living there for years, he referred to himself as a tourist. Yes! Absurd! It had snowed all morning, and now it was dark and raining. The women smiled often despite their missing and broken teeth. What was so difficult to understand was how the fields had disappeared. Some thought the film was about a retired policeman; others, atomic war. Seeds got carried around the globe in the long, uncombed hair of young runaways.
